GEDA transport platforms on a historic mission

GEDA 500 Z/ZP supports the renovation of Spiš Castle

Spiš Castle, located just four kilometers east of Spišské Podhradie on a 634-meter-high rocky travertine ridge, is one of the most impressive fortifications in Central Europe. With an area of over 4 hectares (approx. 41,426 m²) and an elevation of around 200 meters above the surrounding town, the castle has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. It is located in the eastern part of the Hornádska kotlina basin and is an important
important landmark of the region. The castle has been repeatedly restored since the end of the Second World War. Since the late 1990s in particular, after the founding of independent Slovakia, intensive work has been carried out to secure and preserve the ruins. The focus is on preserving the historical building structures. For example, the Romanesque palace is being structurally secured, which also includes stabilizing the rocky subsoil. However, this work poses a number of logistical and technical challenges in view of the unique, romantic backdrop.

GEDA transport platform as support in the fairytale setting
The GEDA 500 Z/ZP was selected for the efficient and safe transportation of materials and personnel on the construction site. This transport platform is designed for tough everyday use on construction sites and can be used both as a material hoist and for transporting personnel - thanks to two separate controls. With a lifting speed of 24 m/min in material mode and 12 m/min in personnel mode, the GEDA 500 Z/ZP ensures fast construction progress
fast construction progress.
Thanks to its compact design, high load capacity and different platform variants, the GEDA 500 Z/ZP can be ideally adapted to the respective construction site conditions. The spacious, open load platform offers sufficient space for a wide variety of building materials. With a conveying height of 16 meters and three stops, this project is easy for the GEDA 500 Z/ZP to handle, especially as the transport platform can also reach a maximum conveying height of up to 100 meters
of up to 100 meters.
The three storeys of the construction site are equipped with a sophisticated storey safety system, in this case with GEDA Comfort storey safety doors. For the special requirements of this project, platform variant C was selected, which, with a load capacity of 850 kg, can also transport heavy and bulky building materials without any problems.

Material transport in "dry cloths"
Thanks to the GEDA 500 Z/ZP, material transportation on the construction site itself was no problem. However, the delivery of the transport platform to the construction site was all the more challenging. The remote location of the castle and the difficult access routes required an unusual solution. This was found by our long-standing partner AP-Lift s.r.o., which provides professional and qualified service support in the region and also mastered this challenge
Challenge mentioned above. Finally, a helicopter was used to transport the elevator: the GEDA 500 Z/ZP was flown directly to its destination from the air. This project thus impressively combines historic building fabric with state-of-the-art technology - in a way that is as innovative as it is spectacular.
