Highly absorbent one-way solutions for emergency stop

The new crash dampers provide designers with a highly effective and economical one-way solution for effectively protecting plant or machinery. They thus represent an interesting alternative to irreversible and reversible structural dampers as well as hydraulic safety shock absorbers. ACE's new safety products are made of specially designed aluminium tubing or steel with outside diameters of 87.5 mm in the aluminium versions and 63 mm and 38 mm in the steel versions. Ten basic types are available as standard, with energy absorption in emergency stop applications ranging from 670 Nm/stroke to 11,200 Nm/stroke. The maximum stroke of the components is between 45 mm and 160 mm, depending on the type, whereby the low support forces of 13,000 N to 70,000 N make a decisive contribution to securing structures. In practice, these values can be further increased by series or parallel arrangement of the crash absorbers in order to dissipate higher energy values than those mentioned at a stroke.

Further advantages of the emergency stoppers developed in sophisticated test series are simple installation, easy retrofitting in existing systems as well as fast replacement and reduced downtimes after a crash. In addition, the crash event can be reconstructed from the deformation of the element and, in the best case, avoided in the future. The basic types already reliably secure linear units in robotics as well as the end positions of machine tools, conveyor systems and high-bay storage and retrieval systems in many places.
